“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

~ Anaïs Nin

Hello there beautiful you, happy Tuesday my love.

I can't believe this is my last love letter to you this spring. There always feels so much more to say, but also, it seems like just the right amount of time.

As usual before we go further, let's invite some collective deep nourishing breaths. Perhaps picture the rest of your case buddies breathing with you. Do some side stretches and wiggles, gently move your neck around, cat/cow and dance your spine, twirl your ankles. Buzz, om, hmmm... breathe, aaaah!

As I mentioned yesterday, the first few days after these classes can have us feeling a little unsure. With that in mind, under the winding down/daily chapters tab, you will find some helpful guidelines for moving forwards. I have also recorded a podcast version of that for you. While I definitely recommend choosing your own adventure and personalizing things to make things longer lasting, I also find having some strong guidelines to be super helpful, so check that out here. For those of you who have read/downloaded this in the past, note that I often make changes to it (the newest edition is today's). You can find more "week four" tips and tricks right here.

This is the moment to refine your personal roadmap (while you are feeling refreshed and reacquainted with some of the things that make you feel good). It might feel easier to set new intentions now than it did 3 weeks ago.

It's a beautiful gift to self to align that map with your unique lifestyle, personality, schedule, values, dreams and hopes for your future. Having this map doesn’t (and shouldn't) mean perfection, and it doesn't mean you won't veer off and take a different route sometimes, but it really does serve as a gentle guide to help bring you back to center, and to encourage mindful nourishing choices... aiming for an 80/20 kinda situation.

Mindful Nourishment Going Forward ~

As you venture off on your own now, a new chapter of mindful eating begins. Keep your focus on what truly nourishes you: nutrient-dense foods that support your energy, mood, and overall well-being.

There can indeed be room for those “sometimes foods”, (the ones you put aside for this class). Just try to embrace these things without guilt, savoring the full experience mindfully, and choose the best quality of those things. As long as they don't become too habitual, or something you "need", you'll be fine.

Here are a few final mindful-eating questions to guide you around those cravings:

  • Why do I want this particular food?

  • Am I physically hungry, or simply drawn to it from habit?

  • Does this craving reflect a primary food need (like a need for comfort or connection or sweetness)?

  • How can I enjoy this treat fully and mindfully?

  • Is there a home-made or non ultra-processed version I could opt for instead?

  • What if I have a glass of water first, then assess the craving?

Your Primary Food Compass ~

Beyond food, consider your other needs, those primary foods that nourish the mind, soul, and body. A little journaling goes a long way, as does taking yourself out for a walk, to help you see where you feel most aligned and what needs more nurturing.

The most nourishing choices don't just show up in the food we eat (secondary food), but can be there in every aspect of life. And yes, sometimes the two overlap ~ a piece of chocolate cake, for instance, can be deeply nourishing if it’s shared with loved ones or celebratory and ritualistic, vs eating it in front of an open fridge door.

Is this a nourishing choice?

This question has been a beacon for this whole adventure. Sometimes we get the answer "no" and go ahead anyway, but now there exists a mindfulness. Other times we realize that a different choice would be more nourishing. What are some nourishing choices you can bring with you this week and beyond. It might be lovely to sit and journal out some of your go-to primary foods to crowd out unwelcome "noise".

(Bee breathing/humming, gratitude strolls/journaling, prioritizing sleep, cold swims, warm showers, fresh flowers, making, connecting, sitting still, movement snacks, sky gazing, expressive journaling, guided journaling, dancing, reading, jumping, hooping, wiggling, ritual and ceremony...)

The member site will remain available until 1st July. The WhatsApp group will remain open as long as it's helpful. I am available for one-on-one coaching if anyone is interested in deepening their practice.

Bonus:

A reminder to keep saying Thank You, I Love you to your whole self. You are worth it.

The power of gratitude.

This article reminds us to be kind to ourself, specifically in regards to using kinder language around "aging". Hint, you can absolutely teach an "old dog" new tricks.

So does this article

This article talks about the benefits of (good quality/organic) coffee but also how using a non-bleached filter might be wise if you have high cholesterol.

This recipe for South Indian Style Monkfish and Lentil Curry is so yummy.
