Week 4, Day 22

"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including yourself."

~ Anne Lamott

Hello there beautiful you,

Happy Bank Holiday Monday, I hope you have had some time to unplug, and to rest and digest. And happy week four! Brava for showing up on day 22.

Here's today's poddy
Sacha Jones approx 16 mins

This is my penultimate love letter to you this go around. I hope it finds you feeling grounded, nourished and ready to bloom.

Before we go any further, invite in some deep nourishing breaths, some side stretches and wiggles, twirl your ankles and wrists, gently move your neck and your spine in all their possible directions. Hum, buzz, om, breathe...

Pause and reflect.

The first few days after a class like this can feel a little like returning home from a long trip. Things are familiar and yet different. It’s a transitional period and is best approach with just as much presence as the past three. For this reason, I prefer refer to this as the fourth week.

This week might be approached as a bit of a Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) week!   Taking into consideration all you have absorbed and learned, as well as where you want to go next ~ then create a personalized map.

As well as food and menu planning, focus on the habits, routines, rituals, self kindness and so forth. To create your CYOA story map, consider the following:

  • Which food and lifestyle shifts have made you feel better?

  • What primary food areas might need a little more attention (this includes but is not limited to: work, play, love, movement, friendships, community)?

  • How can you align your future path with your values, beliefs and goals? How might these things show up in your CYOA?

  • How do you best like moving your body that feels good and playful and invites you to play more?

  • What would you like to focus on now, in regard to your whole wellbeing? What is at the end of this CYOA chapter?

  • How can you use the notice of devoted daily discipline to benefit your free spirited whole self?

  • What does your future self need? (One week, one year, one decade from now...)

Secondary Food Ideas for the Week Ahead ~

Whether you’re ready to reintroduce some foods or experiment further, here are a few ideas:

  • Maybe you would like to dedicate the next week to eating with an anti-inflammatory approach, or in the same vein, maybe try a nightshade-free diet, or a 100% grain-free menu.

  • Perhaps you could like to explore even more plant-based options, or try adding more variety to your diet (use the 30+ plant-based foods challenge as a base-line guide).

  • Maybe this is a good week to experiment with intermittent fasting, or/and only eating during daylight hours.

  • Maybe enjoy extra mindful (and sometimes silent) meals where you fully really savour, celebrate, and enjoy everything you eat with more presence.

  • Document your water intake and try to drink most of your liquid in the first ten hours of your day.

  • Commit to an entirely home-made menu for the whole week (make enough at dinner so there are left overs for breakfast and/or lunch the next day).

  • Apply your life-values and beliefs to your menu-planning (for example supporting small business/farms, not supporting mega industry, no packaging, no waste, no animal products, humane working conditions, composting...)

More food options you might wish to explore ~

Primary Food Adventures ~

Making nourishing choices in primary food is just as important as in your secondary food. So as you design your upcoming week, consider how things like movement, creativity, and connection can further support your well-being. This might include, but is certainly not limited to:

  • Make time for multiple movement snacks in your day: give yourself lots of chances to stretch and wiggle and get up from your desk. Pair those movement snacks with hydration.

  • Take gratitude strolls and explore the beauty of your local surroundings. Leave your phone at home and count how many wonderful things you see on your block.

  • Add something delicious to your morning and evening rituals.

  • Practice small acts of kindness and gratitude, perhaps be anonymous in your offerings.

  • Write “just because” love notes to friends and family, (and to yourself).

  • Try a cold(er) shower every morning (and a warm one at night).

  • Sky before screens and put time limits on addictive apps.

  • Release something that no longer serves you (a thing, a way of thinking, a rigid way of being) ~ make space for new and good.

  • Most importantly celebrate beautiful + lovely + amazing you.

I’ll see you back here tomorrow, for one last love letter! Meanwhile, invite your wild, extraordinary, vibrant, playful spirit self to play. And remember that joy and vibrancy can be a really radical rebellious act.

With so much love, love and love,

Sacha xxx
