Wednesday ~ Week 2

"Exercise doesn't take time, it makes time" ‍‍~ Laura Vanderkam

Happy Wednesday lovely one,

Here's your poddy for today
Sacha Jones approx 19 mins...

We've arrived at the half way mark, well done you. I hope this finds you feeling good and springy, with a sassy little strut in your stride. You are fabulous!

Thank you so much for those able to come to our sweet little zoom room, it was really lovely ~ the rest of you were much missed. (We have one more next Tuesday)

At this middle point I would love you to reflect and acknowledge all you have done so far. It can be really helpful to make yourself a “Ta Da!” list as a way to admire your accomplishments, and bring attention to what you’ve released, embraced, accepted and tweaked.

Perhaps you have made some big changes, maybe it's a collection of tiny tweaks! Acknowledge all the extra water you’ve sipped, the greens you ate, the earlier bed times, the fewer moments you spent on your gadgets, the morning sky your eyes saw, the mindful meals, the wiggles... all of it is worthy of celebration. Every single baby step you’ve taken (as well as all the bigger ones) get you closer to the vibrant future self you’re envisioning.

What has surprised you this week?

What were some of the most nourishing meals you’ve eaten?

What were some lovely moments when you leant into your inner child or inner wise woman?

It's also good to look at those moments when things didn’t go exactly as planned, but in such a way that it's a gentle learning opportunity (not criticism). Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Were your goals maybe set a bit high?

  • Did you underestimate other commitments?

  • Did you feel resistance or were met with some unexpected blocks?

  • Do you have any underlying fears about success or change?

  • Is there something you really want to hold on to, even if you know it's not actually a nourishing choice?

If any of these resonate, try to meet yourself with kindness, curiosity ~ and without judgment. This is not failure, it’s information. Sometimes we just get really excited about all the possibilities and honestly think we can do it all!

Now, drop your shoulders, take some deep breaths, wiggle your body a little and then settle into some sweet “bees breath” (feel free to gently cup your throat to fully feel it).

Wading in a little deeper

No matter where you are on this journey, I invite you to go in a little bit deeper today (keeping in mind that “deeper” is personal and not to be compared with your classmates deeper.

Think about 4-5 things that feel genuinely nourishing to your whole self … (think baths, candles, soup, a good book, early bedtime, vs “comfort” scrolling while tired, or a quick fix junk food meal). Think about 2-3 things that really make you feel connected to yourself (movement, creativity, reading…). Then complete this sentence … “I am willing ______” (there might be many things to say here, but think of a few things you are really willing to step into now, and across these next few days). Pair this exercise with “I love you, thank you, I love you, thank you”.

With that, ask yourself what going deeper means to YOU? And try to stretch yourself just a little bit.

This may sound like a silly example, but for a long time I've wanted to get back to my pre-teen hand-standing ability. But for years that just existed as an idea. I would think "I wish this came as easily as when I was 12 years old" ~ but during the winter solstice I realized that wishing wasn't going to get me very far, and that if I honestly wanted that, I would have to commit to a daily practice. And so, ever since I have been doing three handstands every single day. And while I still use a wall to get up, I don't actually touch it with my feet very often. I feel so much stronger, and more playful, and maybe more importantly, I really connected with the power of a daily commitment. It doesn't matter what the thing is, but a little bit every day, eventually gets you there!

So, what's your thing?

Preparing for the Weekend

I shared this Google Doc yesterday, but wanted to highlight it again, as it will serve as a guide for the upcoming inward bound weekend, whichever days you participate. No matter the season, I always really love these few days to zoom the lens in and fully prioritize the good stuff. Again, this will look different for everyone: some of you might wish to liquid fast, others might be going deeper into spring cleaning, and there are many other options to suit your style, but from Friday to Monday (or whichever equivalent period of four days), you get to fully put your health at the forefront.

Extra stuff:

have a fantastic day

love love love
