Sunday ~ Week 2
"Go Little" by Donna Ashworth
"When everything feels too big, go little. Wrap yourself with grace and space. nibble your to-do's, just one tiny bite at a time. You can't outrun overwhelm, my friend, but you can stay so still that it passes you by. If you want to get more done, do less. Stress dissipates in the face of guilt-free, intentional rest."
Good morning my love,
I hope you are enjoying a sweet, slow Sunday, still basking in the super new moon energy. And that you are feeling very much in your own groove.
Whether or not you are (still) fasting, or not, we are still in our inward bound stage, aligned with the darkness of the moon. The chrysalis moment.
Let’s begin with some gentle, conscious breaths and hums. Roll your shoulders back and forth, lengthen your spine, wiggle your fingers and toes, twirl your wrists and ankles, soften your belly, soften your face. Allow your breathing to meet any tight spots within.
Gently take a scan from the top of your head to your tippiest toes, internally as well as externally. What is your internal weather, how is your internal eco-system? What can make that feel even better?
What kind words and sentiments can you direct inwardly right now, in this very moment? Even if you aren’t 100% convinced yet, say the words anyway, they are crowding out less savoury thoughts.
And if you are struggling with the self-love piece, for now, perhaps think about a few delicious favourite words you can repeat, like a mantra instead? Sometimes even pretty words (with pretty meanings) can work wonders… and hopefully will get you there. I know it’s not easy. I just know you are so deserving of this deep love.
I love the image of everyone in our little group walking around in our own little neck of the big woods wearing soft smiles with tall(er) postures. Each of us feeling a little bit brighter and lighter, and a little more in love with ourself than perhaps two weeks ago. I hope so.
Also, food for thought, I just came upon this: "If you switched bodies with the person you love the most for a year, how would you take care of their mind and body, knowing you would be giving it back to them? How would you take care of that person you love the most?"
If you’re fasting today:
Stay present, sip slowly, and savor the nourishment with every drop. Visualize your insides bathed in delicious nourishment and love. Can you picture your inner eco system as clear streams, flowering meadows, vibrant green trees… your cells just humming with renewal.
If you’re easing out of the fast:
Move gently and think about soft, warm, hydrating, easy to digest meals: simple soups, lightly steamed veggies, fermented veg, avocado. Your digestive system is reawakening ~ greet it with kindness. Take your time. Chew with awareness. Let your body set the pace.
Some sweet invitations for today:
~ Whatever stage you are in, linger in your cozy chrysalis energy a little longer. Let your whole being rest and move slowly.
~ Welcome a little Sunday tenderness: a warm herbal foot soak, a bubble bath, a home-spa treatment, journaling under a tree, a spring flower walk, a trip to a favourite bookstore…
~ Say “thank you, I love you, thank you, I love you” your whole body is listening. (If this is hard, see above re delicious words as mantra).
~ Give yourself permission for a nap, some extra side stretches, or just a moment or two sitting down with nothing to do.
~ Invite longer exhales, gentle mantras, and sweet stillness in, to tend to your nervous system.
~ Try legs up the wall, close your eyes, and as your palms are open, imagine your heart being fully receptive. Allow all of the weekend’s quiet wisdom to sink in.
~ Ditch the “shoulds”: maybe go all day without makeup, bras, tight clothes, shoes, your phone…
~ Make your nest lovely: clean sheets, a spritz of rose water, a fresh vase of tulips, or lilac, or whatever may be in bloom in your neck of the woods.
~ Consider a 24-hour fast from scrolling and updates and messages.
As we sit here now, on the eve of week three, it’s helpful to think of Monday as a continuation of the inward bound adventure. This allows us to tiptoe in a little more gently and stay more present. What sweetness from this weekend would you like to bring with you stepping forward?
I’m sending you so much love my sweet friend.
Wishing you a beautiful, gentle, lovely day…
Love love love
