Rooting & Grounding Journal Prompts
some prompts to help you get cozy and rooted….
(and also, check out all the other guided journal questions)
Rooted Grounded Awareness
Where in your life right now do you feel most rooted/grounded ~ steady, supported, or/and at ease?
And are there areas of your life where you feel somewhat uprooted or not quite grounded?
Maybe write about what helps you return to that sense of steadiness when life pulls you off balance.
Planting Autumn Bulbs
In the garden, the autumn is when we plant bulbs (garlic, daffodils, tulips…) so they rest over winter and delight us in the spring once the snow melts. With that in mind ~ what are you gently tucking into the soil of your life right now (an idea, a habit, a dream) that you are willing to nurture, and allow to rest, through the darker months, trusting it will emerge in its own perfect time? Allow yourself to go deep.
Your Earthly Body
If your body were a landscape, what kind of terrain would it be today (in this moment, which may be different from yesterday and tomorrow) ~ soft meadow, dense forest, shifting sand, dry desert, fertile soil?
What does that landscape need from you right now?
And then maybe shift from metaphor to your actual needs.
Primary or Soul Food
What truly nourishes you ~ body, mind, and spirit ~ beyond what’s on your plate?
Consider people, practices, music, places, and small rituals that make you feel alive and cared for. When did you last engage in some of those things?
Rooted Habits
Think about one pattern or habit you’d like to shift during this time together (perhaps something you’d like to revisit)
Grounding in Gratitude
Write down four or five simple, grounding moments or sensations that anchor you to the present moment ~ things that help you feel safe, connected, and/or calm. Don’t overthink this, the answers usually come quickly and are often basic/simple.
(perhaps: the weight of a blanket, the smell of tea brewing, bare feet on the floor, a cat’s purr, morning light, rainbow catchers catching rainbows...)
And then take one of those things and write for a minute or two about why that things feels like so cozy to you.
