Sunday ~ Week 1

“Curiosity is the mother of delight.”‍ ‍

~ Mark Stewart

Good Morning, Lovelies,

Here's your Sunday love letter for your ears
Sacha Jones, approx 13 mins

Happy Sunday (and happy Mother’s Day in the U.S. and in Australia) 🌸 And really, Happy Mama’s Day to all of you ~ to our plant and pet mamas, the aunties and the earth mamas too, as well as the Mums of human children.

This is a beautiful moment to regard the Mother selvescontained within. Even if we haven’t accessed this for many, many moons, (or perhaps ever) we all possess inside of us a gentle, patient, nurturing self, with everything necessary to lovingly tend our inner child. Alongside “her” lives an inner wise elder ~ a grandmother spirit of sorts ~ who, when we grow quiet enough to listen, softly reminds us how to access our intuition (what we already know deeply, even if we forget at times).

A big component of healing is remembering ourselves ~ our WHOLE selves, even the parts we mask to protect ourselves in this wild world.

This may stir up emotion, and that’s ok. It’s good actually. To feel is to heal. And whether this shows up in tears, tenderness, giggles, yelling, tiredness, general weirdness, the desire to make expressive body shapes… this is what it’s about!

And maybe if we acknowledge our inner child, inner Mama and inner grandma, we can more easily tap into a sense of self compassion, patience, baby steps, and trying again and again.

So let this serve as an invitation to pause for a moment to truly thank yourself for carving out this time. And as we get ready to step into week two, make yourself an even deeper commitment to be fully here for your (past, present and future) self.

Like I said the other day “going deeper” looks different for everyone, but each of us will be well served to do something more. This might be as simple as sipping one more glass of water, including a few more movement snacks across the day and getting into bed ten minutes sooner. The small things are the big things.

Let’s celebrate and acknowledge every step we’ve taken so far ~ the bold leaps and the gentle recalibrations. And if something didn’t quite go to plan this week, take a curious glance at it, rather than a critical one. Each experience becomes part of the unfurling path. There's wisdom to be gleaned from even the so-called stumbles, if we're willing to listen.

Now, before you read further ~ let’s take some deep breaths and have a collective wiggle. Shake out your limbs, make silly sounds, wiggle your nose, your toes, your belly. Roll your shoulders backwards and forth. Loosen the grip of tension, wherever you notice it. And when you have wiggled sufficiently, sit or stand tall. Soften your brow, your hands, your jaw. Adjust your pelvis, engage your core. Lift your chin slightly. Inhale all the goodness you’re cultivating. Exhale anything that feels heavy or no longer needed.

And with kind, observant eyes ~ check in with your internal weather today: How are you really feeling? What do you need?

(No judgement, just acceptance and then seeing what is within your grasp to improve things).

  • What are your Sunday plans for meandering and sky gazing and marveling?

  • What are your plans for rest and rejuvenation?

  • Do you have plans to batch cook for the week ahead?

  • Might you consider a digital detox today (or set some boundaries around phone and gadgets)?

Evening Rituals to Close Week One ~

Eat as early as you can, then “close the kitchen” with teeth brushing and flossing; some squats and a walk around the block.

Prep for your morning (lay out your yoga mat + journal; write a clear map of what you need to-do on Monday; choose your clothes; have lunch packed; fill your water pitcher…)

Before (or in) bed, try legs-up-the-wall, paired with long, beautiful breaths and even longer, soothing exhales.

Then sink into your clean sheets, left hand on your heart, right hand on your belly, feet cozy with room to wiggle... get super comfortable and gift yourself a “bed savasana” ~ allowing all of your recent explorations and celebrations and tweaks to fully settle into your bones and blood and cells. Let all the good stuff germinate. Say thank you self.

Then drift into rest with gratitude and ease.

With so much LOVE, Sacha xx

PS: Here is some stuff about making space by letting go:

This is really a really good conversation about stuff and clutter (a fresh perspective) with Dr. Chatterjee and his guest Joshua Fields Milburn. That led me to listen to Joshua's own podcast, The Minimalists.

They recommend The 30:30 Minimalist GameBoth of these poddies made me think about my own (rather emotional) relationship stuff (and parting with it) in a fresh way (a work in progress, for sure!)

Have a delicious, delightful, restful, sweet, gentle, nourishing, silly, sassy, playful and lovely Sunday.

Love love love love,

Sacha xxx
