Beliefs & Values - and how they show up in our food

Another way to consider the food we ingest every day is to reflect on our life values and beliefs. You may already engage in this practice, but if not, it can be a truly enlightening experience to check in with yourself.

Often, we hold many ideals in our minds and hearts, yet we may not consistently apply them to the food we eat or the ways we invest our time and money. Taking a moment to journal about this, or simply to pause and contemplate, might be incredibly beneficial as you embark on this next stage of your wellness journey.

What if we are consuming food that, for whatever reason, doesn’t align with what our hearts truly desire? Since what we eat becomes a part of us, this misalignment might affect our overall well-being more deeply than we realize.

By making food choices that resonate with our beliefs, we can ingest better energy and feel more fulfilled. This mindful approach can also guide us in resisting certain foods that tempt us, but don’t serve our values (or wellbeing).

This is a potentially vast subject, and since eating is something we do every single day, it’s beautiful to take the time to reflect on it. This moment together might be the perfect opportunity to explore these connections.

I encourage you to sit with this concept for a moment and see what flows onto the page. Let your thoughts roam freely; they might touch on anything from environmental concerns and supporting small businesses to kindness toward animals, humane conditions for farm and factory workers, or even your spiritual practices. There are no boundaries here.
