A Love Letter To Your Body

A Love Letter to Your Body

This may feel challenging, but it’s such a beautiful and transformative exercise. You are going to write a heartfelt love letter, a thank you note, an apology, or maybe even a promise (one you truly intend to keep) to your body.

This is a way to acknowledge that your body is an integral part of who you are ~ not something separate. When we speak unkindly to our body, we harm ourselves. This letter is an act of healing and self-compassion.

Imagine treating someone you love the way you sometimes treat or speak about your body ~ would you ever let that happen? Of course not. So let’s make peace with our bodies, and mean it.

It’s okay if emotions come up while you write. You may cry, and that’s healing, too. Let those tears flow.

Be gentle. Be kind. Appreciate yourself. Respect yourself.

Try starting with:

"Dear my body, my beautiful self..."

Tell your body how much you love it: "We are one, and I am so grateful for you." Write why you love it: "I love you because..." Offer an apology for any past harshness: "I’m sorry for..." And make a promise for the future: "From now on, I will..."

Fill your letter with as much love and tenderness as you can. Let it be poetic, sincere, and full of appreciation.

Sign off with love:

"I love you, I love you, I love you...

With all my heart (soul, heart, mind)

Me, xxx"

This exercise is about reconnecting with your body and giving it the love and care it deserves.
