Sacha’s Insomniac monkey smoothie
This is a good recipe to enjoy in the evening about 3-4 hours before you would ideally like to be falling asleep. It's very filling and makes a good dinner replacement. it's so quick and easy to make, which is perfect if you are tired from not getting much sleep or working too much.
2-4 servings.
Ingredients (use organic ingredients where possible)
2 bananas (fresh or frozen)
1/2 avocado, stone and skin removed
1 ½ cups non dairy, un-sweetened milk of choice
2-4 cups of chopped spinach or other greens
1/2 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 - 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla paste (or extract)
1 teaspoon raw honey (optional)
3 or 4 tablespoons chia seeds
1 tablespoon bee pollen(optional)
1 tablespoon pure peanut-only peanut butter* (optional)
Pinch of pink Himalayan salt or other good quality sea salt
Enough water or oatstraw** tea to liquify.
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high speed for about a minute until it's smooth and ready to drink.
Notes:
Nutmeg is very effective for helping you sleep but it takes some time to work, so try to enjoy this a few hours before bed time.
** Oatstraw is really calming and i recommend always having a pot
* skip the peanut butter in the spring and summer
