Sacha’s Favorite Wild Blueberry Smoothie

I like this recipe with or without a blender (the latter I call "deconstructed smoothie") - it's very simple and really satiatiating. It carries me quite a long way without feeling super filling. I'm not one to eat a very large breakfast first thing, but this one I find ticks all the boxes with good fat, protein and delicious wild blueberries. I eat so many greens that these days I don't always feel the need to add greens in my smoothies, but if you are still looking to sneak greens in you can absolutely add some leaves to this recipe.  Of course, if you don’t have all the ingredients, just play with it, and make your own version. Serves 2.

  • About one cup of water (or cold herbal tea, such as hibiscus and oat straw)

  • 2 -3 TBS chia seeds

  • 1-2 TBS hemp seeds

  • 1-2  cup(s)  of wild frozen blueberries

  • 8 ounces (half a tin) of full fat coconut milk  (BPA free tin)

  • 1 banana

  • 1 TBS peanut butter* (smooth or crunchy, but pure without additional ingredients)

  • ½ - 1 tsp each of your favorite medicinal mushrooms

  • ½ - 1 tsp of your favorite adaptogen (maca, shatavari, ashwagandha…)

  • 1 tsp of hibiscus powder (if you have it)

  • pinch of good quality salt

Blend in a blender, or serve straight up in a bowl.  If you choose the deconstructed version, you might want to skip the mushroom powder and peanut butter - and choose hemp over chia, or leave the chia to soak for a while and this becomes something of a chia pudding.

* skip the peanut butter in spring and summer.
