Facing Self Sabotage
Let’s Talk About Self-Sabotage!
Investing in your health? It's like giving yourself a never-ending gift! Staying present is the secret ingredient to making that investment truly shine. From my own experience, the self-care investments I've made over the years have been game-changers! But here’s the twist: it only works when I stay true to myself and follow through. When we honor our intentions, we create a wonderful cycle of feeling good about ourselves, leading to even more positive intentions, and voilà ~ the ripple effect can be absolutely magnificent!
So, what’s the deal with this pesky thing called self-sabotage?
It might just be our old friends ~ fear of the unknown, fear of success, or fear of failure. Sometimes, the root of it all traces back to beliefs that were created in our minds during our formative years. Most of us encounter self-sabotage now and then; it's like a (grumpy but loveable) old friend that keeps popping up unexpectedly. Can you think of a time when you didn’t follow through on a promise to yourself? I can definitely relate!
Here’s a juicy insight: often, self-sabotage is planted by someone else! You don’t have to own it ~ let it go! When we start to grow and change, it can make the people we love feel a bit uneasy. They might react with fear, jealousy, or just plain confusion. This can unintentionally hold us back ~ like when someone offers us cookies or makes a sarcastic comment. Remember: that’s THEIR stuff, not yours! Your journey is yours alone.
Sometimes, we’re even afraid of being different—standing out like a flamingo in a flock of pigeons! But guess what? That’s an old story. Take a deep breath and embrace your new truth, beautiful soul!
Occasionally, we trip ourselves up, even with supportive people cheering us on. It’s like we’re running a race, but then we decide to tie our shoelaces together! In these moments, it’s essential to look inward and acknowledge that we might subconsciously set ourselves up for failure. It’s tempting to point fingers at external circumstances, but what if we dig deeper? What’s really scary about feeling good and achieving our goals?
As the wise Marianne Williamson said:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
During our class, we awaken our senses and dredge up old emotions, creating a bit of murkiness in our waters. But as we clear away the fog, we may start to see our reflection more clearly. And that clarity can feel intimidating! Many of us stay stuck in discomfort because it’s familiar and safe—even if it’s a little painful. Oh, that old familiar devil!

With all that in mind, let’s dig a little deeper! Reflect on moments in your life when you know you’ve self-sabotaged.
Did you recognize it at the time?
How do you regularly trip yourself up?
What do you think is behind these behaviors?
What feels scary about reaching your goals and dreams?
Take some time to contemplate these questions and see what lands on the page. Remember, honesty is key! We’re here to share and support each other through this journey, so bring your insights to our group discussion.
